My life began in a hospital in Austin, Texas on October 1, 1976 and from thence I have been trouble in every sense of the word. Well, not really, but finally I got to go home with my parents after the hospital staff informed them I needed a name first. And so came Ruth Dulaney...no middle name..wasn't time for that. A year and a half later my parents made a move back to a nearby town of my father's childhood home in the Lake Texoma area. There I was able to be the best tomboy possible and actually mature into the woman now here before you. = ) |
Life continued in Lake Texoma from 1978 until 1996. I attended the high school in my small town called Pottsboro. It is not unlike many other small Texas towns with the high school football team being the highlight of the city's existence. Every Friday night from the time football season starts until it ends you can find most of the town's 800 people at the game. I spent my years there very happily and found many other activities existed other than football. Much to my surprise and wonderment I found volleyball, basketball, track, golf, tennis (I played doubles with my best friend since kindergarten.), One Act Play (theatre), Lincoln-Douglas Debate, Yearbook, and of course who could forget that one year of marching band (which of course is there for the football team!). I enjoyed each of my activities to the fullest and didn't even get my first job until I was almost 18 and entering my senior year. I worked at Burger King for my first semester of my twelth year and then spent the rest of the year being very very busy with activities. I graduated from PHS (Pottsboro High School) in May of 1995. |
After graduation I decided to go back to work. I ended up going to work at Sonic, a drive-in restaurant, as a car-hop. A car-hop is someone who brings the food to the cars. It was a great job until the winter rolled around. Things slowed down there and I applied, and received, a job at JCPenney in their Men's Department in November. In the mean time I enrolled in Grayson County College (a junior college a short fifteen miles from home). I loved my classes, and I took a lot of basic courses so that I wouldn't have to choose a major just yet, also so that I would have courses that would easily transfer to other universities. I attended college there in Fall of 1995, Spring of 1996, Summer of 1996, and Fall of 1996. |
In April of 1996 I began to become familiar with the internet and to learn more about it. It was quite fun for me, I had a friend who I had met in Spanish class, Jacob, who I asked, finally, to show me what he was doing online and how to do so. And so I began. From then on I learned all I could about this wonderful thing they called the internet. I quickly learned that you could meet people from everywhere on the net, almost anywhere (there never seems to be someone where you are) and that I could write letters to them and they could get them in moments. Since I love meeting new people and writing letters the computer was my new best friend. Before this moment in time I was virtually computer illiterate, which is hard to see now, but true. This same site was my first webpage and was up in May of 1996. |
And now we reach that point in time in which we begin to wonder what was wrong with me, or what posessed my mind to do the things I did. At least I know. I don't expect everyone to understand my choices. In August of 1996 I met Dave Sullivan in Kanga Chat and fell in love with him almost overnight. Within days I felt I'd found someone and something very special. We were together until October. And then he decided he didn't want to continue the relationship. It broke my heart in two, I was completely devastated. He was my first online love and though we never met it didn't mean that I love him any less than people love those they meet in real life. |
When Dave and I began to falter I was still in Chatterbox on a very daily basis because Dave was too and so one day I was feeling particularly isolated and alone in my relationship and that came across out loud in cb and a little old fella who called himself SweetGuy asked me what was troubling me and so a new friend was found. We talked a lot about our lives to each other. He was going through a difficult relationship problem and then Dave and I broke up. I learned to cherish each and every time we talked. He made me laugh, made me smile and made my days sparkle. Mikey and I didn't actually both agree that we loved each other until December 16 of 1996. It was then that I finally admitted my feelings for him were real. I really wanted to meet him and found out that at work (JCPenney) I was going to be getting a three day weekend and checked on the cost of flights. I was surprised to find some very cheap ones. |
I flew up to meet him on January 11, 1997. A few weeks later I moved up there to be with him and to get away from my parents who couldn't seem to recognize me as an adult. I lived in Indiana and enjoyed lots of happiness and lots of heartache from then until July 1, 1998. Mike and I had been under a lot of pressure together and it was seeemingly apparent that we both needed to get out of the relationship, at least for a little while to figure out what was going on and what we needed in life. We broke up around the beginning of June and have been friends ever since. He is a wonderful man who I will always love for he represents an important time in my life. I shared my life with him in every way possible for eighteen months (and lived to tell the story *lol*) j/k! Mike proved to be the first love I have ever truly had and for that reason and many others his memory is locked in my mind and nothing could cause me to forget it. |
And we come to another special moment in my life. It seems that back in December of 1996 that I met z. When I met him Mike and I had just got together and shortly thereafter I moved so we lost touch for a bit and it was kind a off and on that we heard from eachother for most of the time I was in Indiana. There were some lengthy chats in summer of 1997 and then a single phone call in October of 1997 and then we didn't start to talk again until April of 1998 and when we started talking again Patrick realized this good friend of his wasn't fairing too well and really didn't know where whe belonged anymore or where to go so that she could feel that way again.

There are many things that I love. I love the theatre, especially Shakespeare, and Andrew Lloyd Webber. Hmmm, that's thought: Shakespeare and Andres Lloyd Webber working together on a play. What a thought! I especially love Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet" and Shakespeare's "Hamlet". Picture at right is "Kenneth Branagh's Hamlet" featuring my favorite actress Kate Winslet as Ophelia. When I get a chance I love to enjoy some good literature. My top books include: The Book of Mormon, Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, The Odyssey by Homer, A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens, Les Misérables by Victor Hugo, and The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne. I have also started to enjoy various fantasy books published by TSR and Wizards of the Coast. I love the Ravenloft series the best, and have read several of them. My favorite so far would have to be Vampire of the Mists. |
Among other things I love to dance, play volleyball, to go for long walks in the country, to play just about any game I can, and to kiss. I also love waterfalls, stars, mountains, rivers, lakes, animals, and beaches. I love music. I play the piano and I also sing. I would love to pursue theatre, but I find that I don't have the time. I also collect music boxes. I love life and anything beautiful in it. Those are the things I look for in life, beauty in something I constantly am searching for. |
